Our New Home

Dean was recently transferred to do some electrical work on Altus Air Force Base. It was rough finding somewhere to live in 4 days especially in this town. Every apartment complex was full, most with a waiting list. Most of the rental houses were either falling apart or didn't allow dogs. But we finally found a place in a town about 10 miles north in Blair. Altus is a small town in the middle of southwest Oklahoma. There's not much round these parts. We are about 20 minutes from the Texas border but the closest average sized town is about an hour away. We do have some small mountains (even Dean considers them mountains) close and a lake about 15 minutes from our house (which is pictured above). Dean's access to the base is very limited and I have no access at all but I love to watch the big cargo planes flying around. We have been here for about 2 and a half weeks and we are still adjusting to the differences from Missouri. But already we have made some friends and Dean has plans to attend the local rodeo. Jag is a bit lonely and misses her friends but she's getting used to things and hopefully we'll be able to find her a friend soon.

There is also a small lake/pond/ish-thing in the middle of Altus that has a walking and driving path around it that offers a unique view of town. The town isn't anything special but it does have some cool aspects.

  3. If you have twins while in Altus, you should name one Altus Blair Mayne, and the other Bronco Rodeo Mayne. On that note, how was the Rodeo last night?
