Over Memorial Day weekend Dean and I went up to Cheyenne, WY to visit Dean's brother. Dean's brother is finishing his basement and needed Dean to do the electrical work, so he paid for our gas to come up for the weekend. We left Wednesday afternoon and drove straight through. Thursday we spent in Denver which is only about an hour south of Cheyenne. We went to the temple.
And then to a Rockies game. Dean caught a ball at the game and I was on TV. I wore the jersey Dean got me for my birthday which said 'MAYNE' on the back. The Rockies used to have a pitcher with the same last name and he was the answer to the trivia question they asked on TV so they got me on TV pointing to the back of my jersey. We don't get the channel here so I didn't actually get to see.
Friday and Saturday Dean spent working in the basement with his brother. Dean's brother lives close to the Army National Guard and Saturday afternoon Dean took me to look at the planes.
Sunday we got up super early and drove to Gypsum where Dean grew up. It's about 2 hours west of Denver. We got there in time for the last 20 minutes of church. Then Dean showed me around.
This is Castle Peak, Dean's favorite mountain in Gypsum.
This is where Dean played football in high school. They have a new turf field and stadium so it isn't exactly the same as when he played there.
This is the tree that used to be in front of the house Dean grew up in (the ranch he used to live on was developed and now is a neighborhood with 2 elementary schools). The rope Dean used to swing on when he was a kid is still there.

Dean's cousin developed some property in Gypsum and had a street named after him:

After visiting Gypsum we drove to Colorado Springs where we drove around the Garden of the Gods:
We spent the night in Colorado Springs and drove home the next morning. Our hotel had a great view of Pikes Peak:
It was one of the best weekends I have ever had. Dean has always said that he didn't want to go back to Gypsum because his ranch is gone and the whole town has changed since he was a kid. After visiting he changed his mind. It was very hard to come back home. We both now have set a goal to settle down in Colorado some day.

Very cool. Looks like you had a lot of fun.
