Home and Garden

This weekend we finally got our garden in. A couple weeks ago we bought all the supplies and I dug the grass off the top.

We laid the manure and top soil on the top intending to till it right away.

A guy Dean knows from work said we could borrow his tiller. However last weekend the guy was out of town and this weekend his tiller was broken. We finally decided to forget the till and went a bought those hand tillers. When we got home we tried to till it by hand but the ground was way too hard and we made no progress. We almost gave up on the whole garden but decided to water it for a couple of hours and try again. We watered it for a couple of hours and Dean tried again and it worked like a charm. Dean had the whole garden tilled by hand in less than a half hour. We got all the seeds planted and the fence put up only to realized we were 5 feet short of fencing. We just left it and decided to try to come up with a solution later. When we got home from church today I went to take pictures of the garden and saw 3 huge holes that Jag had dug while we were out. She got close to the sunflowers but other hopefully didn't do any damage as she dug where there wasn't anything planted. Anyway we fixed the fence right away and our garden is ready to go.

  1. I find it funny that you have to put up a fence to keep the Jag out of the garden. Normally you put up a fence to keep wild animals out. But your garden looks really good.
